Definition
A better phrase for the hard problem of consciousness. Collapse and reconfiguration to recept-aspect-object. A gap between pre-supposition and description.
The hard problem is only a hard problem if you have succumbed to the Myth of the Proven, the antinomy of Absolute Description, and the Socratic Miscarriage
Is the ego gap mysterian? Is it an explanation? The subject IS neuronal patterns in a brain. Is that a mystery, or is it an obvious brute fact?
It can be fixed by having a more prescient vocabulary. Consciousness is a fuzzy cluster of notions. Many of the puzzles over consciousness are an attempts to blur the distinction between subjectivity and sentience. Subjectivity is first person vantage point.; this is a presuppositional, preconditional, foundational notion. Sentience is a third person descriptive term; it is an analytic category we apply to creatures with sophisticated nervous systems.
Put another way, there is no path from heterosubjectivity and/or intersubjectivity to subjectivity.
The foundational aspect of of subjectivity does lead to a circular explanation. A seemingly paradoxical conundrum about the mind-dependence of the external world. Sentience has a very different sort of problem.
The hard problem is a confusion of a number of different issues:
1) the apparent dependence of the external world on subjectivity
2) An explanation of the emergence of sentience from molecularity
3) How the ego trope conceptualization seems to objectivity, spiritualize subjectivity
The emergence of sentience is no more mysterious than the emergence of stars, volcanoes, or amoebas. Parts combine to form a whole that is greater than the sum of the parts.
Compare the "mere physiology" of the celebrated Mr Hume. Is mere physiology (the easy problem) an explanation of subjectivity? Or is there more to explain? How do we characterize the relation between the physiology of consciousness and the presupposition of subjectivity. Is there a problem or not?
Can we just leave it as incommensurable: the third person verbal explanation of sentience versus the first person experience of subjectivity. We cannot translate participatory subjectivity into verbal description without remainder. Why would expect that we could?
Panpsychism is the misapplication of the analytic framework of molecularity to the experience of first person subjectivity. A category error. Chemistry is a much more productive molecular framework than panpsychism.
