Definition
Possible worlds is an outlandish notion. The linguistic turn completely misses the point of pragmatism, result in such Swedenborgian monstrosities as the school of inferentialism ala Sellars, Rorty, Blackburn, Brandom, Huw Price or the cosmological reveries of multiverses, reverse causation, simulated universes, illusory consciousness. It is a return to Leibnizian rationalism in the costume of materialistic naturalism. However, instead of Leibniz's absurdly reverential "best of all possible worlds" this version of rationalism apathetically imagines that we are living in the only possible world.
