This is an extremely rich (semantically overloaded) term. It may mean speech, rational explanation,
principle/order/reason.
In Heraclitus logos is the underlying order of the cosmos. In Aristotle it is rational discourse. In the Gospel of John is the speech of God or that is spoken in the name of God.
